Peskov says Russia prolongs grain deal for 60 days

MOSCOW, Mar 17 (PRIME) -- Russia prolongs the grain deal by 60 more days, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

“Russia prolongs the deal for 60 more days,” he said, when asked a corresponding question.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said on Monday that Russia suggested prolongation of the deal only for 60 days, and that the country’s position on a further prolongation would depend on actual substantive progress in normalization of the exports of agricultural products from Russia.

Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the U.N. signed the deal on July 22, 2022. The deal was to expire on November 18 of the year unless no country objected to an automatic 120-day prolongation, and the deal was prolonged until Saturday, March 18, 2023.
